Ian has recently begun struggling with some intense behavioral challenges. Many of the behaviors Ian's first family described are now starting to pop-up. Traditional behavior modification seems to have little or no effect on Ian's behaviors. We continue to try different creative ideas to help Ian get through this. Its very sad to see Ian struggle so much. His moods can change on a dime and his outbursts tend to isolate him from his brothers and students in his class. Its hard to know how much control Ian really has or whether this is really more significant mental health issues. Much of Ian's early life is unknown but it seems certain that the early instability plays a piece is Ian's current struggles. With counseling and medication monitoring we look forward (fingers crossed) for improvement soon.

Ian has transitioned into our family beautifully. Over the summer Ian participated in several summer camp programs. He did very well at both the sleep-over and the day camps. Ian especially enjoyed the camp programs where he has "his own counselor." Over the summer Ian also improved his swimming skills and began learning how to play the guitar. Since September, Ian has attended the local elementary school and receives special education services. Although he really dislikes homework and will try anything to get out of it, Ian has settled into a routine now and usually completes all of his assignments on time. Recently Ian starting playing football on one of our local city leagues. Ian is the most excited about wearing a team uniform and cleats then actually playing football. Regardless, his brothers go to every game to cheer him on. Ian is really looking forward to the holidays and, at the moment, Ian is enjoying decorating his room in a Halloween theme.
