November 2005
William continues to make excellent progress in school.  This year William has a job at his school's library and has become a real favorite of the librarian.  William loves to work and looks forward to the day he can have a full-time job.  In the meantime William continues with his vocational training at school.  He enjoys learning how to use the public transportation system to get around the community.  He is also learning how to manage a debt card and budget his money.  After school William enjoys swimming at the Huntington Beach City pool.  On the weekends he is rehearsing for the production of "Anna and the King."  The performance will begin in January 2006.

August 2005
William had a great summer. After summer school he attended Ceramics Camp at Mission San Juan Capistrano for two weeks. William also helped his younger brothers at Science Camp. William loves the responsibility of being the "big brother" and the younger boys respond well to his support. William also enjoyed several trips to various arcades, local amusement parks and Wild Rivers during his summer vacation.

William is already looking forward to starting school again. We are so happy that William seems to have found his nitch at Westminster High School. He hopes to participate in the ROP program again and continue to get vocational training after school. This year William says he would like to work at a movie theater like his brother Jonathan.

June 2005
William is happy that school is over for the year! While William enjoys attending Westminster High School and has been successful, he has always been the type of guy who would rather work than go to school. This year William did get his wish--- at least partially. William went to school full-time and worked part time through the ROP program. William had an opportunity to work with children after school. William learned how to help children wash their hands; serve after school snacks; clean-up the snack area; and finally to clean-up the toy area. William enjoyed his job and showed determination to learn the vocational skills necessary to be successful. William's hope is to get paid employment following his graduation from high school. William will attend summer school and continue working as well. Despite his protests, William will return to Westminster High School in the fall.

Also this summer William is planning to attend Deaf camp with his brother, Kyle. Although William is hearing, he loves to communicate with his brothers and his friends who are Deaf. By going to Deaf Camp for a week, William hopes to improve his signing skills.

William is also interested in continuing with MYART Theater Group where he has many friends. Originally William had serious stage freight, but now he gets on stage and sings and dances with the rest of the ensemble. We are proud of William who has really grown up to a nice young man over the past couple of years.

Family Sharing
William Silcock
 (w/Dave Nachmanoff & Hunter Silcock)
May 29, 2005

In a family many things are fun
But sharing them can be hard
From field games to computers
From TV to toys to cards

CHORUS:
When you share you show respect
When share, you’re not just a little speck
And people respect you too
When you share

And then, there are things that aren’t so fun
Like picking up after dogs
Taking trash out, doing dishes
Not sitting like a bump upon a log

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge: Grown up brother, helping Mom and Dad
Help my brothers, they all think I’m “rad”!

(Repeat Chorus)

William (19) is a senior at Westminster High School.  We are very proud of William as he advocated for himself to transfer to a new high school for the 2004-2005 school year.  William felt his needs and interests could be better addressed as a fully-included student at Westminster High School.  William will be taking agricultural and animal husbandry classes.  William is very interested in getting a job caring for animals once he graduates from high school.   The valuable training he will receive at Westminster High School will definitely help William achieve his personal vocational goals.

On the weekends, William is involved in community theater.  He will soon be rehearsing for the play "Fiddler on the Roof."  William enjoys acting and is learning how to dance.

William also enjoys cooking.  In September he will enroll in an advanced cooking class.  William has been a great help with meal preparation at home.  In his free time William also likes to play video games and to explore the Internet.

William's adoption was completed in April.  We are thrilled to have such a loving son and wonderful big brother join our family.
