March 2008
Hello again! Well we got through the holidays in one
piece. There is always a lot going on for us during the
months of November and December, especially this year!
Between special school activities, holiday parties and
two new children joining our family in the middle of
December, we were pretty exhausted! We enjoyed our
traditional Thanksgiving at Knott's Berry Farm. With
all of the family there plus many friends and extended
family we had a big Thanksgiving brunch at Mrs. Knott's
restaurant then we spent the day at the Knott's enjoying
the amusement park. The boys also had a fabulous
Christmas thanks to some very generous people in our
community who went over and above to provide the boys
with some extra special Christmas gifts and holiday
activities!
We are happy to announce that Parker, Patrick, and
Carlos finally joined our family! Patrick and Parker
have proven to be excellent additions to our family.
The boys are 11-year old identical twins who were
previously living in the Los Angeles area. Both boys
are super loving with big personalities. Patrick loves
going to school, especially riding the bus. After
school Patrick likes hanging out at the Discovery
Science Center or the Santa Ana Zoo. Parker loves going
to the movies and to Legoland. Both boys love exploring
their environment. Since they spent most of their lives
in a sub-acute nursing home setting they have had very
little chance to get out in the community before joining
our family. At four years old, Carlos in now our
youngest son. Carlos is a sweet little boy who is
adjusting very well to having lots of older brothers.
Carlos loves going to park and to Chuck-E-Cheese. He is
attending special education preschool at our local
elementary school. We are excited to be parenting
these wonderful boys, all three are awesome and perfect
matches for our family!
By the next family update we hope to be able to write
about Daniel's adoption finalization. We will be
signing adoptive placement paperwork later in the month
and should get assigned a court date shortly
thereafter. Also Yanny's adoptive placement paperwork
will be signed this month as well. We will all be very
happy to get these two adoptions finalized. Both boys
have been part of our family for a long time and having
that final paperwork making their membership in the
family legal will be a giant sigh of relief. We are
also ready to do the read options with Sergei and Alex
Daniel who were originally adopted from Russia several
years ago.
In the mean time, between our everyday activities I am
filing out tons of summer camp forms. This is a very
time consuming job and will probably be the focus of my
free time over the next couple of months. All of the
boys have at least one camp experience each summer.
They attend camp programs across the state with many of
the camp programs specializing in such areas as water
sports, acting, science, music, film making, sports and
the like. We make every effort for the boys to attend
summer camp programs with their typical peers. Of
course in order to do this, and for the boys to have a
fun and successful experience at camp, a lot goes into
preparing the camp staff for our boys' unique needs and
preparing the boys for the rules and culture of summer
camp! Hopefully by the end of summer we will have lots
of pictures to share on the web site.
Finally our second CD called "Team
Silcock" is finished. We will be adding some sound
bytes from "Team Silcock" to the web site soon. If you
are interested in purchasing the CD you may go to the
following web site link to find both of the Silcock
Family CDs :
CD Baby: Search results for “silcock family” Our
family is very proud of this new CD which is full of
songs written by the boys and sung by our friend, Dave
Nachmanoff. A few of the songs on this CD are even sung
by the boys. Compare this new CD to our first CD, I
think you we see some real growth in the boys' song
writing skills.
Anyway, thanks for checking in and I hope to write more
in a few months!
Ann
