Jonathan is so excited about an up-coming visit from one of his biological family members. Although Jonathan is very happy to be a member of the Silcock family he also thinks about and worries about his biological family. We are happy that Jonathan will have some time to renew this relationship.

Last month Jonathan worked with our friend, Dave Nachmanoff, to write several songs for our second family CD. Jonathan choose the topics for both of his song without help from any of us. He had been thinking about the words to the songs since last year. When Dave sat down with Jonathan, he did quite well writing the lyrics (see his song below). Jonathan is really getting the hang of song writing.

Jonathan just completed his junior year at Westminster High School. Jonathan has made a lot of growth academically, in some areas he has made a years growth during the school year. This year Jonathan also got a job at the local theater. Jonathan was so excited to work in a movie theater. Currently Jonathan is training for the job of ticket taker. Jonathan's job is to tear the movie ticket and then direct people to the appropriate theater. Jonathan is thrilled that he may even get to work concessions in the future. He hopes to continue with this job over the summer. Jonathan will return to Westminster High School in the fall.

During the summer, Jonathan will attend summer school and then a couple of summer camps. Jonathan is hoping to find a Christian summer retreat that he can attend for a week or two. Also Jonathan will attend some of the special high school programs being held during the summer at Saddleback Community Church. Jonathan is a regular attendee at Saddleback Community Church and would eventually like to join the young men's choir.

Finally Jonathan would love to take a trip out of state to visit a family member. We are working the details out about this trip and Jonathan just can't wait to have the plane tickets in his hand!

Chorus:
My sister and me, when we get together
We’re gonna have lots of fun
Bethany when we get together
Do all the things, we haven’t done

We’ll ride on a rollercoaster
Go visit Disneyland
Take a long walk down on the beach
Dig our toes in the sand

(Repeat Chorus)

We’ll spend a lot of time at church
In fellowship, worship and praise
Go to San Juan Capistrano
Watch all the swallows at play

(Repeat Chorus)

Play putt-putt, we’ll play basketball
Cook salmon on the grill
Face to face, it’s been so long
Together again, what a thrill

(Repeat Chorus)

September 2004
Jonathan (19) finally got his wish to be a fully-included student at Westminster High School. Last September, Jonathan started as a junior at Westminster High School and he had a wonderful and successful first year. Jonathan will return to Westminster High School in September. He will be a senior this year.
In addition to academic classes, Jonathan is enrolled in the agriculture program and animal husbandry, as well as a foods class and a woodshop class.

Jonathan continues to make good academic and social progress as a fully-included high school student. He is developing friendships and increasing his independent living skills. This year Jonathan wants to try his hand at raising chickens through the Future Farmers of America program help on the Westminster High School campus.

After school Jonathan will return to work at a local Christian book store. He has worked at this bookstore for over a year with the support of an instructional assistant and the ROP Vocational Training Class. In addition to working part-time, Jonathan hopes to also do volunteer work at Saddleback Church.

Jonathan is looking forward to another wonderful summer camp experience at Lake Hume with the teens from Saddleback Church. Jonathan is really maturing into a fine young man. We are so proud of his accomplishments.
