August 2005
Anthony just returned from a week at Deaf Camp in the Big Bear Mountains.
Although Anthony isn't Deaf himself, he is learning American Sign Language
quickly. Anthony is able to communicate not only with his brothers who are
Deaf, but also many of the SUCCESS Day Program staff and participants who
are Deaf. Anthony is also called upon to be the interpreter at the
Discovery Science Center when a group of Deaf or hearing impaired children
arrive for a tour. Anthony has already been invited back to Deaf Camp next
summer to be a counselor. We are really proud of Anthony's efforts to
learn and use American Sign Language, perhaps one day he will be skilled
enough to be an official interpreter.

June 2005
Anthony has been keeping busy since graduating from Edison High School
last year. Anthony takes classes at Coastline Community College, works
part time, and provides volunteer service throughout our community.
Anthony is a member of the
SUCCESS Day Program and is actively involved with their community
volunteer program. Anthony is known as a hard worker and enjoys
participating in the variety of volunteer opportunities available.
Anthony has volunteered many hours
delivering Meals-On-Wheels to local senior citizens; rehabilitating
injured or abandoned baby possums and raccoons; raising goats at the
Westminster High School farm; and sorting food at the Orange County Food
Bank among other important activities. In addition to volunteering during
the week, Anthony continues to work at the Discovery Science Center on the
weekends. We are proud of Anthony and all of his good work in the
community.
In his free time Anthony continues to pursue his interest in acting. He
takes adult acting classes at South Coast Repertory Theater and in a
participant with the
MYART Theater group. Anthony would like to get
some bigger roles on television and in the movies and with all of his hard
work and dedication this dream may very likely come true!

What would I miss?
Chorus: At the Enchantment Under the Sea Someone enchanted me At the Enchantment Under the Sea
I found myself Out on the floor She gave a look that I could Not ignore And then we danced Round and round Lost in the music Lost in the sound

Talked through the evening That was all it took I felt I knew her Slightly like a book All my fear Had been replaced I was dancing with a

Anthony (20) had a great summer 2004. He booked
several acting jobs in film and television shows. In his free time,
Anthony spent a lot of time at the hospital visiting his brother and
roommate, Barry. Anthony's visits were definitely the bright spot of
Barry's day. Anthony saw Barry on a regular basis. Also during the
weekdays Anthony resumed his behind-the-wheel driving training.
While he continues to be nervous, Anthony is making steady progress toward
getting his drivers license. In the evenings, Anthony can still be
found working out at the gym at least several times a week. Finally,
besides working part-time at the Discovery Science Center, this summer
Anthony took acting classes with the South Coast Repertory Theater.
Anthony enjoyed these classes and plans to re-enroll in September.
Anthony is also looking forward to enrolling in classes at Coastline
Community College. August 2004
JULY 2004: Anthony graduated from Edison High School
in June. Anthony had an excellent time participating in all of the senior
activities. Since his graduation Anthony has continued to work at
the Discovery Science Museum. Anthony is also exploring options for
volunteer work. Anthony has a real talent for working with young
children so we are hopeful that he will find a fulfilling volunteer
position at a preschool or childcare facility.
Recently Anthony passed the written portion of his
drivers test. He is excited about completing the behind-the-wheel
portion of the driving test so that he can finally get his drivers
license. A donor purchased driving hand controls for Anthony and now
we are looking for a van with a lift to accommodate his wheelchair.
Anthony continues to be involved with community theater as
well as acting on television and in movies. Anthony has also
developed an interest in filmmaking and may take a class at Orange Coast
College to hone his skills.
Recently Anthony had a part on the television shows "That's so Raven,"
“Malcolm in the Middle" and "The Princess Diaries II.”
As you can imagine, we are very proud of Anthony’s
accomplishments.
