May 2008
Anthony is enjoying "doing his own thing" during
the day rather than attending a structured day
program. Anthony is working at the Discovery Science
Center, working out at a local club and attending
community college. This semester Anthony took an
acting class at Golden West College. The class was
very challenging but Anthony decided to stick it out
for the whole semester. In his free time Anthony
enjoys hanging out with his girlfriend, Anthony
lives a very typical life of a young adult despite
his physical and learning disabilities and his many
years living in nursing facilities. We are very
proud of Anthony's motivation to move past his early
years of abuse and deprivation and to have an adult
life that is independent, satisfying, happy, and is
beyond everyone's best expectations.
Update: February 2008
Anthony was excited to get an opportunity to write another song with our friend and songwriter, Dave Nachmanoff. Anthony works very hard in these song writing sessions. In our newest CD "Team Silcock" Anthony has one song he wrote with Dave. On our third CD, which we are in the process of producing, Anthony will likely have two new songs.
At the beginning of the year Anthony decided to drop his day program and instead take a couple of college classes as well as take some more time to work-out. Anthony is taking another sign language class at Golden West College this semester. Anthony continues to get more and more proficient at communicating in sign language. Anthony practices his sign at Deaf night at the Orange Block as well as at the Discovery Museum when hearing impaired patrons need interpreting.
November 2007
We have received some very nice feedback about Anthony's job performance at the Discovery Science Center. We have heard from both our friends and from strangers about how well Anthony is doing at work. Apparently Anthony shares our family web site with some of the visitors to the museum as we have received several nice e-mails from strangers who just happened to meet Anthony while visiting the center. We were delighted to hear about Anthony's efforts to interpret into American Sign Language some of the programs and show at the science center. Apparently Anthony is the only employee who is able to use and understand sign language so he is called upon when Deaf visitors arrive at the museum. We are really proud of Anthony and his efforts to use his sign language skills to help others in the community.

September 2007
Anthony has been working more at the Discovery Science Center. He has been motivated to work as many hours as are available. Anthony is saving much of his money to take a trip out of the state or possibly out of the country. Anthony is also enjoying work now that his girlfriend is also employed there. Besides working Anthony is enrolled in a sign language class at our local community college. Anthony is getting quite good at sign language. He often has to use his skills to interpret for his brothers who are Deaf as well as for patrons of the Discovery Science Center who are hearing impaired. Anthony is one of several Silcock brothers who are fluent in two languages!

June 2007
Anthony celebrated his birthday this month. Its hard to believe that Anthony is already 22 years old! As a young adult, Anthony is enjoying the bachelor life. He lives with his brother, Nathan in a rented house near our home. Anthony is learning how to budget his money, shop for his food and household supplies, and maintain a house. Anthony is really doing well. He has shown some increased responsibility, especially with his own personal care. After living in the "system" most of his life, its great to see that Anthony has turned into such a wonderful young man.
April 2007
Anthony is working more and more hours at his job. His girlfriend, Jennifer, also works at the Discovery Science Center. Anthony seems to really enjoy having extra time to spend with Jennifer. Anthony also expressed an interest in resuming his acting career. We will rejoin MYART theater group and he recently filmed an episode of a new sitcom "I'm with Stupid." If this pilot is picked-up by one of the major networks it will be likely that Anthony will be hired to do more work. We think it is very exciting that Anthony is living such a full and interesting life.
February 2007
Anthony has enrolled in a beginning sign language class at out local community college. Anthony is excited taking a class and also hanging out at the local college. With Anthony's existing skills in American Sign Language and the support of the Disabled Students Center, Anthony should be very successful in this class. Anthony says that he might want to eventually be an interpreter for the Deaf and plans on taking one class per semester toward that goal. In the meantime, Anthony is honing his sign language skills daily through the SUCCESS Day Program and also working with Deaf visitors at the Discovery Science Center..

December 2006
Anthony has been working more hours at the Discovery Science Center. There are many holiday parties and other events at the museum keeping Anthony very busy at work. Anthony is also being trained for new jobs at work. Anthony says he likes the variety and is very excited about getting more hours. Anthony is hoping to become a full-time employee in the future.
October 2006
Anthony worked at Deaf camp this summer. Many of the boys attended this camp and really enjoyed having their big brother as a counselor. The other campers also thought that Anthony was an awesome counselor as well.
Anthony has started working out at the local gym. He goes several times a week and has made friends with many of the body builders. We are excited that Anthony is getting serious about his physical health.
Anthony continues to work at the Discovery Science Center and was very excited when he recently received a pay raise.

July 2006
Anthony is getting ready to be a volunteer
counselor at Deaf Camp next month. Anthony has
learned quite a bit of American Sign Language over
the past two years. He has been able to use this
skill to communicate with his brothers Kyle and
Nathan, some of the other people who work with the
SUCCESS Day Program, and to translate for hearing
impaired visitors of the Discovery Science Center.
We are very proud of Anthony's interest in learning
sign language and his commitment to become a fluent
communicator with his Deaf friends and family
members.

Update: March 2006
Anthony (20), as usual, has been a very supportive brother. During the
past several months, when Chris was displaying significant behavioral
challenging, Anthony was very patient and encouraging. Anthony worked hard
to reason with Chris and to help Chris make better choices about his
behavior. Anthony is such a good role model for all of his brothers. It is
almost Anthony's trademark not to lose his cool in tough and frustrating
situations.
Dave Nachmanoff has started recording the second family CD. Anthony's
songs is one of the first to begin production. After Dave gets some of the
background musicians finished with their part Dave will come down to
Southern California for a visit. During that time Dave will work with
Anthony at a local studio so that Anthony can add his own personal touches
to the song. Anthony may sing or play keyboard, or better yet he may do
both. On the first CD, "In The Family, " Anthony's song "The Things That
Make Me Me, " has repeatedly been one of the most popular and is
frequently downloaded from the CD Baby web site. I can't wait to his
Anthony's latest work. He definitely has talent in the area of composing
songs!
Update: January 2006
Anthony still works at the Discovery Science Center on the weekend. Anthony has held this job for a number of years. He has watched supervisors and employees come and go. In the meantime Anthony has been a loyal and responsible employee who is always ready to work additional hours and special events when requested.
Anthony is taking another class as South Coast Repertory Theater.
Anthony enjoys taking adult acting classes and hopes to "learn as much as possible" to further his acting career. This semester Anthony will be enrolled in the Stage Combat Class.
During the weekday Anthony takes college classes at Coastline Community College and continues with his volunteer work. This semester Anthony may take a sign language class to prepare him for this summer when he hopes to be a counselor at Deaf Camp.
